At Lachlan, we offer boarding, lessons, training, showing, and camps for riders looking for a laid back environment while still offering a platform that will help you push towards your goals. Whether you want to pursue the show arena or ride for fun, we can design a program to suit your needs.
We accept riders that are 4 years of age and older. Our younger riders begin with private "mini-stirrup lessons" that are a half hour in length and focus on teaching safety as the rider learns to groom, saddle, and ride their horse. Our older riders begin with hour-long private lessons that focus on all aspects of care for the horse.
As riders progress, they generally move to a small group lesson with riders that are similar in skill. As a "team" we work towards goals, learn about horsemanship, and work one-on-one to help each rider advance. We also offer morning and evening adult lessons for all levels.
We have a 20 stall barn with 13- 12' by 12' stalls and 7- 10' by 12' pony stalls. We also have a 75' by 150' indoor arena, 125' by 225' outdoor grass arena, and 250' by 250' grass hacking field. Our boarding includes high quality feed and grain, personalized turnout 7 different paddocks, scheduling of farrier/vet/chiropractic services, and blanketing. For "unicorn" horses, we also offer the option to receive a boarding discount to partially lease back to the farm for our lesson program.
At Lachlan, we believe that all horses need a "tune-up" to set the horse and rider up for success. We offer lunging services, as well as training for any horse that has been broke to ride. We specialize in ponies that need polishing and Off The Track Thoroughbreds, but are more than willing to help work with any suitable mount. Whether your horse has picked up a bad habit, or needs some work with an every day skill, we can make a plan to help your horse become more well-rounded and suitable for his job.
Although showing is not required of our riders, we do suggest that your rider get involved! We travel to local and USEF shows, as well as offering schooling shows for new riders right here at the farm. Showing can be a lot of fun for the whole family and it's a great way to learn more about our sport!
Throughout the year, we offer a variety of camps and clinics for our riders! We have Fairytale camps for our younger riders, Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced camps for our older riders, and holiday camps during the off seasons. We also have Farm Days which are perfect for kids that are interested in learning more about farm life! And we don't leave the adults out! We often have adult nights of fellowship, laughter, and pony talk!
